Importance of Photographs
Close-up photographs of some Soviet military assets shown above and below, provided important intelligence to United States agencies allowing them to determine the quantity of assets such as number of airplanes, tanks, ships. missile sites, etc that our enemies had. The stereo capability enabled measuring the heights of missiles and other objects. Photographs also revealed the quality level of their agricultural fields, water supplies and industrial production thus providing important economic intelligence. It turns out that the photographic intelligence the Hexagon provided helped greatly in keeping the peace during the cold war. Moffett field below is next to Lockheed pant where the Hexagon vehicle was put together and tested.
